Looking for Gig 2.0

29 05 2007

If you haven’t heard, Audible Wordcast is shutting down. While I agree with Michael Geohegan’s quick post mortem, I don’t completely agree with Rob Safuto’s. (I haven’t spoken with Rob in a while, so I’ll buy him a beer and share my perspective…)

As you might expect from that lil’ tidbit of podcasting news, I’ll be leaving Audible at the end of June. I joined the company to help introduce them to the value of UGC and the revenue streams that come from ad-supported media. But, as they say, change is hard.

On to Gig 2.0.

What will that look like? Stay tuned to this channel (or this channel). If you feel like reaching out, you can find all my contact information here.

Looking forward to gig 2.0, these transitions used to scare me but every time I’ve ended up somewhere better, working on something more interesting so I know you’ll have exciting times ahead.

Hi John - I know you’ll land somewhere great! I have a few contacts in this podcasting and new media space - we should talk soon.

All the best,

Tim

I’d love to get the full story from you John. You know the inside scoop but I couldn’t resist the opportunity to jump on my anti-DRM soapbox. Drop me a line and we’ll set it up.

Rob
