I just had and odd but insightful experience: I participated in my first conference call via IM.

I’m home with a cold and as a result, have lost my voice. My team called me so I could listen to the conversation while someone set up Google Talk so that I could chime in when necessary.

On one hand, we’re really busy and it’s great that I can have an alternative method of participation and not lose a day of productivity.

On the other hand, have we as a society given up on the concept of recovery days? Does one have to be on their deathbed in order to truly be out of touch while resting?
